Ok so I had been playing with a few new ideas for the song that I wanted to be about Ukraine since the last session, which I played to Dre. I had a really nice melodic part and a discordant part, and I was struggling which should be the verse. He made a great suggestion to mix and match, and I was going to take that away and play around with it more.
One of my favourite songs, Putting The World Back Together, hadn’t made Dre’s list! Ahhhh! What? So I played it in the room and we played with the BPM and key and then he liked it. Hurray! I love this song because it really says my mission out loud - putting the world back together with love.
I left with the homework to not only write the lyrics and rest of the music for a song I want to call Beautiful Apocalypse, and write from scratch two other songs that I want on the album, and perfect the chorus of one other…but also to record all the songs as demos so we could start putting the sessions together.
I think we both knew it might take me more than a few days to get the rest of the songs written to where I want them to be.
